FANTA4 FANS ENJOY FRONT ROW 3D EXPERIENCE

Chyron’s Lyric PRO 8 Created Stereoscopic 3D Graphics
Seen Throughout European Cinemas

On September 28, 2010, Chyron made history providing graphics for the first live stereoscopic 3D concert by German hip hop group Die Fantastischen Vier, also known as FANTA4. This exclusive event managed by Mitteldeutsches Multimediazentrum Halle was held at Steintor-Varieté in Halle an der Saale and fully supported by Chyron GmbH, Wiesbaden.

Chyron’s revolutionary on-air graphics were the backbone of the stereoscopic experience and were displayed in over 90 cinemas in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg. Fans had the opportunity to see every graphic pop through the screen while being treated to a front row experience.

“In conjunction with the forum for ‘3D cinema and stereoscopic media productions’ we formulated an idea to develop solutions for a first 3D transmission to multiple cinemas,” said Alexander Schaefer, initiator & organizer of the live transmission and head of the technical department for Mitteldeutsches Multimediazentrum Halle. “It has been wonderful to work with such a professional and responsive team like Chyron for such perfect 3D production.”

Added Schaefer, “We chose Chyron’s Lyric PRO 8 as it surpassed our desire for quality Stereoscopic 3D graphics. The 3D stereoscopic graphic capabilities of the Lyric PRO 8 are exceptional and go far beyond expectations.”

Chyron’s CMO Bonnie Barclay commented, “This application is high-profile evidence of the power and flexibility of Lyric PRO 8 and we are delighted that is was deemed such a huge success. I expect to see many more 3D productions for simulcast to digital theatres, and eventually into the home.”

WATERMAN SEES INCREASED REVENUE AND RATINGS WITH USE OF CHYRON’S CHANNEL BOX

12 10 2010

WZVN Sees Share Increase 58% in Morning News Hour

When Waterman Broadcasting decided to revamp its morning show for WZVN, they turned to Chyron’s Channel Box2, the channel branding and automated promo system. Since its launch on July 29, 2010, the station reports a boost in TV household share by 58 percent in the 6-7 a.m. hour.

The installation of the Channel Box2 has been instrumental in allowing for more functionality and real estate on the screen.  Using what the station has coined a “breakfast bar,” viewers get a day-planner forecast in the form of an ”L-bar” for each of the local Florida counties on the left side and along the bottom of the screen.  The bottom of the screen features two new crawls that report both the breaking news and the latest traffic updates.  Also new to the station is the opportunity for advertisers to purchase a rotating ad in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen, creating a new revenue stream.

“This is a stand-alone platform to get more information to our viewers with breaking news, severe weather and other applications,” said Bob Hannon, Director of Production, Waterman Broadcasting.  “We don’t have to tie up other resources to get more information to our viewers and we are generating additional revenue.”

WZVN, which is a Waterman operated station for Montclair Communications, now has 11 minutes of branding opportunities to premium sponsors. Sponsorships have been limited to six with two saved for their marketing department for promotional usage.  Sponsor messages rotate every 30 seconds.

“Channel Box2 is making a tangible, positive impact on the station’s bottom line.  The audience is up and advertisers are enjoying the extended opportunity for branding during editorial programming,” said Lou Garvin, product manager, Chyron.

Chyron Powers Graphics For 2010 Commonwealth Games

Lyric PRO 8 and HyperX³ to Enable MOOV with Full On-air Graphics
Capability During Coverage of the Commonwealth Games

Chyron is powering the graphics for the Commonwealth Games, the international event currently taking place in New Delhi, India.  U.K.-based broadcast graphics company MOOV is utilizing Chyron’s Lyric PRO 8 graphics infrastructure for this year’s Commonwealth Games on the BBC.

Lyric PRO 8 is the ultimate enterprise authoring tool that provides the power to create sophisticated graphic templates with incomparable ease and flexibility across the entire Chyron product spectrum. Lyric PRO 8 features groundbreaking technologies, including native support for Stereoscopic 3D, scriptless Intelligent Conditional Transitions and Touch GraphX.

MOOV has created an original new “Coming Up” sequence for the multi-sport event that opens up with the New Delhi Skyline with numerous kites flying in the sky.  Using the powerful, Inherit State feature, the sequence can display any country’s flags in any order, at any time with “turn-on-a-dime” flexibility. This saves both time and resources by eliminating the need to program all possible transition scenarios.

“I have no doubt that this is an innovative sequence never seen on TV before – it combines cutting-edge technology with amazing creative flair to produce a stunning real-time sequence,” said MOOV Managing Director Duncan Foot. “We will of course be producing a wide range of graphical sequences during the 11-day games and have absolute confidence that Chyron will reliably deliver quality graphics throughout.  We will be on air for 12 hours every day, providing live graphics in HD and also supporting six AVID edit suites.”

“MOOV has been Chyron’s partner for many years,” added Chyron’s Vice President, EMEA Sales Paul Glasgow.  “We are delighted to be part of such an impressive international event.”
