Mexico’s PCTV Deploys Chyron’s BlueNet™ Workflow and SHOUT 2.0 Social Media Editor

26 09 2012

Implementation to Bring Dynamic Graphics and Social Media to Live Broadcasts

MELVILLE, N.Y. Sept. 26, 2012 — Chyron today announced that cable operator PCTV is installing four HyperX³·¹ on-air graphics systems at its teleport and main studio in Mexico City to bring a state-of-the-art BlueNet™ graphics workflow into its live sports and entertainment production environment. The Chyron systems will support daily graphics production and playout, as well as production of high-profile sports events held in Mexico and around the world. PCTV will leverage Chyron’s new SHOUT 2.0 Social Media Editor to bring social media conversations to air quickly and easily.

“We began our transition to digital television three years ago, and the installation of the HyperX³·¹ systems will enable us to take another significant step forward in distinguishing our broadcasts with a modern look,” said Jorge Etienne, engineering director at PCTV. “With our new HyperX³·¹ systems, we will be able to speed up our workflows and realize a better ROI. While the creative solutions and possibilities enabled by Chyron’s Lyric PRO software will add value to our channel and the PCTV brand, SHOUT’s integration of social media elements into the Chyron graphics workflow brings exciting new capabilities to our operations and will enable us to deliver high-quality interactive live broadcasts.”

PCTV’s custom-tailored BlueNet workflow includes the HyperX³·¹, Chyron’s flagship on-air graphics system ideal for live sports channels, news stations, and outside broadcast productions. This extremely fast, powerful, and easy-to-use platform features seamless creation-to-playout capabilities and real-time 2D/3D animation. Chyron’s award-winning Lyric™ PRO graphics creation software is a standard feature of HyperX³·¹ that will enable the graphics department at PCTV to take graphics from concept to air quickly. PCTV also will use the SHOUT application to monitor and route social media conversations to its HyperX³·¹ graphics systems for playout.

“Chyron is a very well-recognized and highly respected company in Mexico, and in our evaluation, the company’s HyperX³·¹ proved by far to be the most reliable and best locally supported brand — the best on the market right now,” said David Palma, director of operations at PCTV. “The HyperX³·¹ meets our requirements by enabling a strong, interoperable, and collaborative workflow that is fully integrated with our news center, and by providing compatibility with third-party software without rendering. As a result, we expect to achieve a better on-air look that helps to strengthen our relationships with sponsors and drive viewer ratings even higher.”

“Chyron’s powerful BlueNet workflow and SHOUT Social Media Editor are enriching live entertainment and sports events throughout Latin America, providing broadcasters and cable operators such as PCTV with a new level of flexibility and creativity in taking high-quality broadcast graphics and social media commentary to air,” said Aldo Campisi, vice president, Latin America, at Chyron. “Along with a new office in Mexico, this key relationship is symbolic of Chyron’s rapidly growing presence within the region, and we are delighted to be PCTV’s chosen graphics playout and second-screen solution provider.”

Chyron to Provide 10 HyperX³•¹ Graphics Systems for NBC Olympics’ Coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games

24 07 2012

NEW YORK — Chyron will provide 10 HyperX³•¹ on-air graphics playout systems to NBC Olympics during its production of the 2012 London Olympic Games, July 27-August 12, 2012. The announcement was made today by Philip Paully, Director, Graphics Engineering and Operations, NBC Olympics, and Peter Morrone, Senior Vice President, Product Engineering, Chyron.

“In our operation, there’s no room for error, and every second counts. The centralized asset storage capability powered by Chyron’s HyperX³•¹ and Apple®’s Xsan 2 is a tremendous time-saver, enabling our operators to instantly access media assets that were once only available to the Mac® systems,” Paully said.

Relying on Chyron’s HyperX³•¹ and Apple’s Xsan 2 storage area network, this collaborative workflow environment promises to bring powerful new efficiencies and time savings to the NBC Olympics’ graphics production team as they insert graphics displays for the network’s live coverage of the London Games.

NBC Olympics worked closely with Chyron and Dynamic Performance Technologies to integrate this powerful graphics workflow solution. After building graphics elements in Adobe® Creative Suite®, the NBC Olympics production team is able to move them seamlessly to editing suites and then to devices for playout to air. Since HyperX³•¹ supports Adobe’s XMP metadata platform, artists are able to embed critical information about each graphical element, for instance,  the correctly spelled name, age, and home country embedded in a specific athlete’s head shot.

The finished graphics can then be instantly accessed by the HyperX³•¹ operators by clicking a folder from their workstations, a capability that previously was only possible by searching for the assets on a server and then downloading them into the playout system. Any changes to image metadata need only be made once, and the metadata fields are automatically populated at every point at which the graphic will be used. When the graphic is inserted into the programming, the accompanying metadata is automatically extracted and displayed, so NBC Olympics’ production staff no longer needs to worry if names are spelled correctly and information about the graphic is accurate.

“This summer’s London Olympic Games promise to be a record-breaker, with more than 3,500 hours of broadcast content over a 19-day period from more than a dozen different sports venues. Since much of this programming will be produced live, accuracy and efficiency is critical to success,” Morrone said. “We are honored to provide NBC Olympics with state-of-the-art HyperX³•¹ graphics playout systems integrated with Adobe’s XMP and Apple’s Xsan 2 for their production of the London Olympics.”

TV Galicia Chooses Chyron HyperX³•¹ On-Air Graphics Systems for Major HD Studio Upgrade

2 07 2012

HyperX³·¹ Integrates Smoothly With Existing Chyron Graphics Environment to Bring New Levels of Graphics Sophistication to Programming

LONDON June 20, 2012 — Chyron today announced that Televisión de Galicia (TVG), Spain’s only Galician-language broadcaster, has installed two of the company’s HyperX³·¹ on-air graphics systems as part of a major HD studio upgrade at its central broadcasting facility in Santiago de Compostela.

“As a committed Chyron customer for many years, we rely on several key Chyron solutions in both our studios and OB trucks for news and sports production, as well as other types of daily programming. Therefore, when it came time to upgrade our graphics capabilities, HyperX³·¹ was the natural choice,” said Antonio Posse, technical and engineering manager, TVG. “Instant compatibility with the rest of our environment, plus the support and technical expertise from Clearcom, Chyron’s channel partner here in Spain, were key reasons in our decision.”

The Chyron HyperX³·¹ systems have been installed to provide presentation graphics for news and daytime programming in TVG’s newly refitted Studio 1 and Studio 2, which now have full HD production capabilities. Chyron’s CAMIO graphics asset management server integrates the two HyperX³·¹ systems with TVG’s installation of the AP NRCS news production system.

The latest release of Chyron’s flagship on-air graphics system, HyperX³·¹ is ideal for live sports channels, news stations, and outside broadcast productions. The extremely fast, powerful, and easy-to-use HyperX³·¹platform features seamless creation-to-playout capabilities and real-time 2D/3D animation. A major selling point for TVG was Chyron’s award-winning Lyric™ PRO 8 advanced graphics creation and playout software, a standard feature of HyperX³·¹.

“By completing the first installation of HyperX³·¹ in Spain, TVG is a prime example of how Chyron’s award-winning graphics technology can accelerate workflows and enable broadcasters to take even the most complex graphics presentations to air quickly and efficiently,” said Paul Glasgow, vice president of EMEA sales at Chyron. “With HyperX³·¹, TVG is able to take its on-air graphics to a new level with features such as tickers, clocks, and graphics with conditional transitions. And, with the easy-to-use Lyric PRO software, engineers can create complex animations in a fraction of the time previously required.”
