Chyron’s Paul Glasgow, vice president of EMEA sales, and Todd Martin, senior vice president, Strategic Solutions Group, will present “Cloud 2.0” during BVE’s newest seminar entitled “Demystifying the Cloud.” This one-day event on Wednesday, Feb. 15, will feature six different sessions examining today’s cloud-based technologies. Scheduled for 12 p.m., the Chyron presentation will address today’s popular cloud-based technologies in use across the broadcast and post-production communities. Chyron Products at BVE 2012:

BlueNet™ Graphics Creation and Playout System
This year at BVE 2012, Chyron will demonstrate BlueNet™, a comprehensive solution that fully addresses broadcasters’ requirements for streamlined end-to-end graphics workflows. BlueNet leverages Chyron’s acclaimed suite of graphics tools for ordering and graphics asset management, collaborative graphics creation, and real-time playout. Integration with Axis World Graphics, Chyron’s cutting-edge cloud-based services offering, extends the power of BlueNet workflows to speed even the most sophisticated graphics to air.

BlueNet minimizes the cycle time from creation to air, ensuring very fast news and sports workflows. Order management tools allow producer-driven content to move smoothly into a rundown, and management tools and easily accessible templates enable instant and efficient collaboration in preparing graphics.

Channel Box² Branding and Promo System
Chyron also will showcase its newly enhanced Channel Box². Channel Box² is a next-generation channel branding system that features 2D/3D design with a complete data acquisition toolset for all branding applications. Built on Chyron’s Lyric technology, Channel Box² allows users to access any data — RSS feeds, traffic, financial, weather, elections, tickers, promos, snipes, and more — and publish it on-air anywhere, anytime.

New Channel Box² software (v. 4.5) introduces a playlist sequencer that allows single traffic log events to play out multiple Channel Box² scenes. By automating these processes and reducing the operator workload, the Channel Box² streamlines the workflow and saves the broadcaster valuable time in creating quality broadcast graphics.

Axis World Graphics
Axis World Graphics is the world’s only cloud-based graphics creation system designed specifically for broadcasters. Axis World Graphics simplifies, streamlines, and facilitates the graphics creation process, enabling artists, reporters, production assistants, and news producers to create broadcast-quality graphics using their own graphics package. Combining award-winning technology and functionality, proven integration, and point-and-click customization, Axis World Graphics allows users to create templates in Chyron’s award-winning Lyric PRO 8 software, further streamlining integration within the broadcaster’s existing workflow or within Chyron’s BlueNet™ workflow.

Several new features have recently been introduced to the system, including fully integrated electronic order management, asset management, and integration with Final Cut Pro® video editing, all of which are designed for ease of use and maximum workflow efficiency. Axis World Graphics empowers broadcast production staff to access prebuilt templates that they can leverage for quick creation of graphics for multiple outlets, including websites, mobile devices, and print publications. Graphics creation that once took hours now takes minutes, saving time and money and enabling artists to concentrate on high-end design. The result is a fast return on investment, followed by substantial savings in operations.

HyperX3.1 On-Air Graphics System
The new HyperX3.1 will also be displayed at BVE 2012. This new release of Chyron’s flagship on-air graphics system supports even faster real-time rendering, in turn enabling broadcasters to take even more 3D graphics and animations to air quickly. Like its predecessor, the HyperX3.1 is ideal for demanding environments like live sports, news stations, and outside broadcast productions. This extremely fast, powerful, and easy-to-use platform features seamless creation-to-playout capability and real-time 2D/3D animation, and the system is 3D stereoscopic-ready.

The turnkey HyperX3.1 is scalable to two independent channels and incorporates optional DVEs, clips, and Chyron’s award-winning Lyric PRO 8 advanced creation and playout software.

10 01 2011

2010 was a busy year for Chyron’s engineering team.  Throughout the year, we launched 3 new products and 2 software versions.  Here’s a recap of the new and exciting things from Chyron.

Channel Box², the world’s best branding and revenue generator, was launched at NAB.  Channel Box² is a channel branding and automated promo system that features 2D/3D design and playout for branding applications, including tickers, crawls, snipes, “bag & tag,” promos, and end credits. The system’s real-time video, graphics effects, clips, and audio can be integrated with automation systems, or the system can be used as a stand-alone branding device. Channel Box² is designed to help broadcasters and playout facilities achieve brilliant station promotions, weather and news tickers, squeeze backs, and other effects quickly, easily, inexpensively, and without jeopardizing quality.

Also unveiled at NAB is Chyron’s LEX³ graphics system. The LEX3 is ideally suited for the smaller broadcaster or mobile facility where advanced features and better performance are important for those about to enter the world of HD graphics. The system includes a host of new options including touch-enabled graphics, integrated clips, DVE and Second Video Input. The LEX³ offers unparalleled scalability to fit graphics needs, technical requirements and budget.

Making its debut this year, Chyron’s award-winning Quintette is a turnkey 3D graphics solution designed for news, sports, and entertainment control rooms. A simple yet elegant and sophisticated system, Quintette offers innovation and value by increasing productivity and efficiency, reducing costs, and streamlining the process of delivering graphic content through a fully digital workflow. Chyron Channel Box and CGS Newschief Combine to Simplify Delivery of Timely Data With Rich Broadcast Graphics

16 12 2010

Chyron today announced a new partnership through which the CGS Newschief system provides automated data feed services to the Chyron Channel Box. Integrated with the Channel Box channel branding and promo system, the CGS Newschief Data Feed system serves as a convenient central source for automated headlines, weather, sports scores and stats, stocks of local interest, and market indices. The Newschief system also makes it easy for Channel Box users to collect local data for automated on-air notification of school closings, weather alerts, election results, and high school sports scores.

“CGS is a leading provider of automated ticker systems and content feed services, and our partnership leverages the company’s data feed services along with the versatility and interoperability of the Channel Box to target our broadcast clients’ specific needs,” said Lou Garvin, product manager at Chyron. “The Channel Box is an easy-to-deploy, all-in-one solution for branding and tickers, and we’re pleased to be working with CGS to extend the ease with which Channel Box users can deliver timely localized news and information.”

The Chyron Channel Box is an HD/SD-switchable channel branding and automated promo system that features 2D/3D design and playout for branding applications including RSS feeds, weather information, traffic updates, financial data, tickers, crawls, snipes, “bag and tag,” promos, and end credits. The system’s real-time video, graphics effects, clips, and audio can be integrated with all variety of third-party automation systems, or it can be used as a stand-alone branding device. Interfacing smoothly with the CGS Newschief Data Feed, the Channel Box helps stations automate the labor-intensive task of collecting data from multiple sources and, in turn, merging that information with broadcast-quality graphics for on-air display.

“Broadcasters are looking for reliable, relevant news data, all from a single source,” said Bryan Mullins, partner at CGS. “Newschief delivers that content seamlessly to the Chyron Channel Box, providing stations with a complete HD/SD ticker and branding solution.”

WATERMAN SEES INCREASED REVENUE AND RATINGS WITH USE OF CHYRON’S CHANNEL BOX

12 10 2010

WZVN Sees Share Increase 58% in Morning News Hour

When Waterman Broadcasting decided to revamp its morning show for WZVN, they turned to Chyron’s Channel Box2, the channel branding and automated promo system. Since its launch on July 29, 2010, the station reports a boost in TV household share by 58 percent in the 6-7 a.m. hour.

The installation of the Channel Box2 has been instrumental in allowing for more functionality and real estate on the screen.  Using what the station has coined a “breakfast bar,” viewers get a day-planner forecast in the form of an ”L-bar” for each of the local Florida counties on the left side and along the bottom of the screen.  The bottom of the screen features two new crawls that report both the breaking news and the latest traffic updates.  Also new to the station is the opportunity for advertisers to purchase a rotating ad in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen, creating a new revenue stream.

“This is a stand-alone platform to get more information to our viewers with breaking news, severe weather and other applications,” said Bob Hannon, Director of Production, Waterman Broadcasting.  “We don’t have to tie up other resources to get more information to our viewers and we are generating additional revenue.”

WZVN, which is a Waterman operated station for Montclair Communications, now has 11 minutes of branding opportunities to premium sponsors. Sponsorships have been limited to six with two saved for their marketing department for promotional usage.  Sponsor messages rotate every 30 seconds.

“Channel Box2 is making a tangible, positive impact on the station’s bottom line.  The audience is up and advertisers are enjoying the extended opportunity for branding during editorial programming,” said Lou Garvin, product manager, Chyron.
