ChyronIP Graphics Streaming Over IP
This year at BVE 2013, Chyron will demonstrate ChyronIP, a real-time HD/SD 2D and 3D character and graphics generator specifically designed for the NewTek TriCaster™, an all-in-one, integrated live production system that offers the power of a live network studio. ChyronIP is a compact, lightweight system that provides producers with up to two HD or SD full-motion channels of Chyron graphics that stream directly into the TriCaster over a network connection.

Ideal for sports, news, entertainment, and any other live production, ChyronIP allows TriCaster users to employ the same high-impact graphics typically seen in premier sports and entertainment broadcasts. Because graphics data is delivered via a network connection, broadcasters can take advantage of ChyronIP for TriCaster without tying up any of the needed camera inputs that are critical to live production. ChyronIP allows users to leverage Chyron’s award-winning Lyric® PRO graphics application to create live, full-motion Chyron broadcast graphics, 3D animations, and transitions.

Channel Box² Branding and Promo System
Chyron also will showcase its newly enhanced Channel Box². Channel Box² is a channel branding system that features 2D/3D design with a complete data acquisition toolset for all branding applications. Built on Chyron’s Lyric® technology, Channel Box² allows users to access any data — RSS feeds, traffic, financial, weather, elections, tickers, promos, snipes, social media, and more — and publish it on-air anywhere, anytime.

New Channel Box² software (v.4.7) includes a powerful, advanced point-and-click data tool that allows users to acquire data from many sources quickly and easily. Also included in this software release is the Channel Box² sports data feed interface, which allows for the easy display of live TV sports data feeds from Daktronics, Whiteway, OES, and Fairplay scoring systems.

ENGAGE Second-Screen and Social TV Gateway
Also on display at BVE 2013 is ENGAGE, Chyron’s second-screen and social TV gateway. ENGAGE gives broadcasters the ability to add viewer interaction — such as votes, polls, and tweet battles — easily into their live news and sports programming, along with rich call-to-action graphics and infographics. It integrates with popular second-screen and social data partners, eliminating the need for custom integration while maintaining routine production workflows. ENGAGE provides producers with easy-to-use tools that allow for the instant creation of interactions that can dynamically boost audience engagement.

SHOUT™ Social Media Editor
SHOUT™, a stand-alone software application that enables broadcasters to bring social media commentary into their live broadcasts quickly and easily, will be demonstrated at BVE 2013. SHOUT gives one or more users the ability to monitor, select, adjust, and route social media conversations to broadcast graphics systems either for on-air playback or for storage as data files for later use. Multiple instances of SHOUT running across a facility can be used simultaneously by different staff members to view content and moderate the same playback list. Users can add, remove, and authenticate multiple social media accounts from sources like Twitter™, Facebook, RSS, and Mass Relevance.

Waterman Broadcasting Uses Chyron Channel Box2 to Overhaul Look and Feel of 24-Hour News Channel

31 01 2013

MELVILLE, N.Y. Jan. 31, 2013 — Chyron today announced that Waterman Broadcasting, operator of WBBH in Fort Myers, Fla., has used the Channel Box2 branding and promo system to revamp the look of its 24/7 news channel. By enabling a seamless upgrade of the WBBH news product’s display of information and the channel’s overall look, the Channel Box2 has supported the broadcaster in its continued market leadership in news and weather.

“The system’s flexibility, reliability, and ease of operation made the Channel Box2 a natural choice for control of our 24/7 news subchannel,” said Bob Hannon, director of production at Waterman Broadcasting. “The Channel Box2 not only requires less time and attention than other solutions, but also allows for aggressive selling and scheduling of revenue-producing programming and spots.”

The Channel Box² channel branding system features 2D/3D design with a complete data acquisition toolset for all branding applications. Built on Chyron’s Lyric® technology, Channel Box² allows users to access any data — RSS feeds, traffic, financial, weather, elections, tickers, promos, snipes, social media and more — and publish it on-air anywhere, anytime. The latest Channel Box² software includes a powerful, advanced point-and-click data tool that allows users to acquire data from many sources quickly and easily. The Channel Box sports data feed interface allows for the easy display of live TV sports data feeds from most major scoring systems.

Installed in the WBBH tech core along with a KVM station that facilitates operator use, the Channel Box² provides background graphics, weather information including current conditions and five-day forecasts, information from the local and national news crawls, and two DVE displays, one featuring the broadcaster’s live radar and the other providing news updates and other segments. The Chyron system supports instant updating of information, automatic switching to backup paths for information, instant routing of video sources, and remote automation control of program content and format.

“The Channel Box² system offers broadcasters an ideal solution for bringing richer branding and graphical elements into their live productions,” said Lou Garvin, senior product manager at Chyron. “As users at WBBH have demonstrated, the system allows broadcasters to revitalize their live programming with fresh graphics content and to enhance news and weather reporting with a variety of engaging and dynamic data-driven graphics.”

French Broadcast Leader TF1 Chooses Chyron for Branding of LCI News Channel

11 07 2012

LONDON July 11, 2012 — France’s number one broadcaster, TF1, has installed Chyron’s Ticker Tool — a solution driven by Chyron’s Channel Box² graphics branding and promo technology — to provide channel branding for LCI, the network’s popular 24-hour news channel. At LCI, the newly developed Ticker Tool drives creation of all channel brand elements including clock, logos, and tickers for weather, stocks, and news headlines.

“We needed a significant upgrade to our graphics presentations in order to stay competitive in our market,” said Olivier Tremon, head of internal production at TF1. “The Chyron solution has proven to be an excellent choice at LCI, providing state-of-the-art channel branding and animation capabilities as well as up-to-the-minute ticker information that our operators can easily manage and modify.”

The Chyron Ticker Tool offers a user-friendly interface for LCI to generate tickers and populate them with rolling content from third-party data sources for weather, stock prices, sports results, and other current and rapidly changing information. For stories automatically built and updated from external data sources, such as stock market data, the Ticker Tool provides spellchecking, cut-and-paste from third-party applications, and the ability to edit stories and modify layouts in a word-processing environment. Bin-and-sequence windows enable operators to build and reorder sequences simply by dragging and dropping them from the bin, a time-saving capability especially useful when inserting breaking news information.

“TF1 is a household name in France and one of the most influential broadcasters in Europe, so we were honored when the network chose Chyron to provide channel branding for the popular LCI news channel,” said Paul Glasgow, vice president of EMEA sales at Chyron.

Chyron dealer MagicHour provided support for the implementation of the Ticker Tool and Channel Box² solution installed in the main TF1 broadcasting facility in Paris.

Albania’s News 24 Streamlines Graphics Capabilities With Chyron Channel Box² and LEX³•¹

12 06 2012

New Deployment at Leading 24-Hour News Channel Marks Chyron’s First Installation in Albania

LONDON — Chyron today announced that News 24, Albania’s premier 24-hour news channel, has upgraded its on-air graphics capabilities with the company’s Channel Box² channel branding and LEX³•¹ graphics systems. The Chyron solutions will be a key new component in News 24’s migration to HD broadcasting slated for later this year.

“We have achieved fantastic results with Channel Box² and LEX³•¹. With a single computer, we can now perform the job that three separate systems and three different software licenses were doing before — and with absolute top-quality results,” said Arianit Filopati, director of production, News 24. “The Chyron systems have accelerated uploading and delivery of news to air, and since our journalists are spending much less time on graphics presentations, they can focus on their real work of gathering and delivering the news. With Chyron, our news broadcasts now have the most professional look of any in Albania.”

News 24 is Albania’s first 24-hour news channel and currently commands the largest market share for news broadcasting. Chyron’s Channel Box² and LEX³•¹ replace previous graphics systems that had been in place since 2002. These systems required three separate PCs for generating crawls, news subtitles in Albanian and English, and main titles for the live broadcast. Many graphics creation and data input tasks had been manual and time-consuming, requiring up to five journalists to cut and paste each set of data into the user interface.

By upgrading its equipment to the Chyron systems, News 24 was able to streamline many graphics and data input tasks. Deployed to facilitate the station’s channel branding, Channel Box²’s automated data handling capabilities and data gateways enable seamless import of news and graphical data — accelerating workflows for delivering news broadcasts to air. From one single Channel Box², the News 24 team is able to generate and playout 13 different graphical components that are broadcast day and night, including text, crawls, video DVE, animated logos, hour and date, and various clips in support of the current news topic.

The LEX³•¹ graphics playout system enables News 24 journalists to enhance each on-air news broadcast with a rich set of graphics and last-minute changes. In fast-paced live coverage, the LEX³•¹ system’s template-based text and graphics enable instant updates from data feeds and databases.

“The Albanian television industry is rapidly advancing and becoming extremely competitive. News 24 is committed to maintaining its market leadership by adopting leading-edge technologies — and one component is the ability to deliver a highly sophisticated on-air presentation that easily outclasses the competition,” said Viktor Tatai, regional sales manager at Chyron. “By adopting Chyron’s Channel Box² and LEX³•¹, News 24 has taken a significant step forward with systems that simplify workflows and accelerate delivery of highly complex and professional graphics components that complement news content.”

This extremely fast, powerful, and easy-to-use platform features seamless creation-to-playout capability and real-time 2D/3D animation, and the system is 3D stereoscopic-ready.

The turnkey HyperX3.1 is scalable to two independent channels and incorporates optional DVEs, clips, and Chyron’s award-winning Lyric PRO 8 advanced creation and playout software.
