Chyron’s Lyric PRO 8 Earns Digital Studio Industry Leadership Award

9 02 2011

Chyron today announced that its Lyric PRO 8 graphics creation software has been honored with the “Innovation of the Year” award from the Digital Studio Awards 2011 for its on-the-fly Arabic text rendering capability. Announced during the CABSAT Show on Feb. 8, 2011, the award is among the Digital Studio Industry Leadership Awards created to recognize the efforts of individuals and companies that have contributed to the growth of the broadcast and production industry in the Middle East.

“Our goal is to enable broadcasters to create high-end multilingual graphics quickly, easily, and without compromise, and the flexibility of Lyric PRO 8’s unique text engine makes this possible,” said Michael Wellesley-Wesley, CEO at Chyron, who accepted the award in Dubai. “We are so pleased that this unique capability has been acknowledged with a prestigious Digital Studio Industry Leadership Award.”

Lyric PRO 8 software features a powerful, continuous graphics rendering engine to enable delivery of superior-quality real-time 3D animations. Among the innovative features of this latest software release is on-the-fly Arabic text rendering functionality that allows operators to switch between Arabic and another language with a single click, within a single template, and even on a single line. As a result, broadcasters working in two languages, such as Arabic and English, can take advantage of Lyric PRO 8’s new 3D text engine and the software’s complete feature set while intermixing languages effortlessly and preserving a fast, efficient workflow.

Following standard Microsoft® language conventions, Lyric PRO 8 switches seamlessly between language sets and automatically provides the character set, font styles, and treatments appropriate for the language in use. As the user inputs text, the software ensures that the direction of text entry also is correct.

The Digital Studio Industry Leadership Awards were announced in Dubai on the first night of CABSAT, the Middle East’s largest cable and satellite exhibition. The gala evening was host to the region’s leading professionals in the broadcast, TV and film production, and post production industries, as well as vendors, systems integrators, consultants and other high profile guests.

AXIS Graphics Online Content Creation
At ETECS 2011, Chyron will highlight its AXIS graphics platform, a unique cloud-based service that has become the proven leader in on-demand graphics. The world’s only cloud-computing graphics creator designed specifically for the broadcaster, AXIS simplifies, streamlines, and facilitates the graphics creation workload across many users in a broadcast operation — from reporters to production assistants to news producers. Integrating into the broadcaster’s existing or Chyron-based workflow, AXIS combines award-winning technology and functionality, proven integration, and point-and-click customization.

AXIS services include high-resolution maps, 3-D charts, financial quotes, and a virtually unlimited set of tools for topical news graphics creation. Each service is designed for ease of use and maximum workflow efficiency.

AXIS provides broadcast staff with pre-built templates that they can use for quick creation of graphics for multiple outlets, including websites, mobile devices, and print publications. Graphics creation that once took hours now only takes minutes, saving time and money, and enabling artists to concentrate on high-end design. The result is a fast return on investment, followed by substantial savings in operations. AXIS services are set to launch in EMEA during 2011.
