French Broadcast Leader TF1 Chooses Chyron for Branding of LCI News Channel

11 07 2012

LONDON July 11, 2012 — France’s number one broadcaster, TF1, has installed Chyron’s Ticker Tool — a solution driven by Chyron’s Channel Box² graphics branding and promo technology — to provide channel branding for LCI, the network’s popular 24-hour news channel. At LCI, the newly developed Ticker Tool drives creation of all channel brand elements including clock, logos, and tickers for weather, stocks, and news headlines.

“We needed a significant upgrade to our graphics presentations in order to stay competitive in our market,” said Olivier Tremon, head of internal production at TF1. “The Chyron solution has proven to be an excellent choice at LCI, providing state-of-the-art channel branding and animation capabilities as well as up-to-the-minute ticker information that our operators can easily manage and modify.”

The Chyron Ticker Tool offers a user-friendly interface for LCI to generate tickers and populate them with rolling content from third-party data sources for weather, stock prices, sports results, and other current and rapidly changing information. For stories automatically built and updated from external data sources, such as stock market data, the Ticker Tool provides spellchecking, cut-and-paste from third-party applications, and the ability to edit stories and modify layouts in a word-processing environment. Bin-and-sequence windows enable operators to build and reorder sequences simply by dragging and dropping them from the bin, a time-saving capability especially useful when inserting breaking news information.

“TF1 is a household name in France and one of the most influential broadcasters in Europe, so we were honored when the network chose Chyron to provide channel branding for the popular LCI news channel,” said Paul Glasgow, vice president of EMEA sales at Chyron.

Chyron dealer MagicHour provided support for the implementation of the Ticker Tool and Channel Box² solution installed in the main TF1 broadcasting facility in Paris.

TV Galicia Chooses Chyron HyperX³•¹ On-Air Graphics Systems for Major HD Studio Upgrade

2 07 2012

HyperX³·¹ Integrates Smoothly With Existing Chyron Graphics Environment to Bring New Levels of Graphics Sophistication to Programming

LONDON June 20, 2012 — Chyron today announced that Televisión de Galicia (TVG), Spain’s only Galician-language broadcaster, has installed two of the company’s HyperX³·¹ on-air graphics systems as part of a major HD studio upgrade at its central broadcasting facility in Santiago de Compostela.

“As a committed Chyron customer for many years, we rely on several key Chyron solutions in both our studios and OB trucks for news and sports production, as well as other types of daily programming. Therefore, when it came time to upgrade our graphics capabilities, HyperX³·¹ was the natural choice,” said Antonio Posse, technical and engineering manager, TVG. “Instant compatibility with the rest of our environment, plus the support and technical expertise from Clearcom, Chyron’s channel partner here in Spain, were key reasons in our decision.”

The Chyron HyperX³·¹ systems have been installed to provide presentation graphics for news and daytime programming in TVG’s newly refitted Studio 1 and Studio 2, which now have full HD production capabilities. Chyron’s CAMIO graphics asset management server integrates the two HyperX³·¹ systems with TVG’s installation of the AP NRCS news production system.

The latest release of Chyron’s flagship on-air graphics system, HyperX³·¹ is ideal for live sports channels, news stations, and outside broadcast productions. The extremely fast, powerful, and easy-to-use HyperX³·¹platform features seamless creation-to-playout capabilities and real-time 2D/3D animation. A major selling point for TVG was Chyron’s award-winning Lyric™ PRO 8 advanced graphics creation and playout software, a standard feature of HyperX³·¹.

“By completing the first installation of HyperX³·¹ in Spain, TVG is a prime example of how Chyron’s award-winning graphics technology can accelerate workflows and enable broadcasters to take even the most complex graphics presentations to air quickly and efficiently,” said Paul Glasgow, vice president of EMEA sales at Chyron. “With HyperX³·¹, TVG is able to take its on-air graphics to a new level with features such as tickers, clocks, and graphics with conditional transitions. And, with the easy-to-use Lyric PRO software, engineers can create complex animations in a fraction of the time previously required.”

Albania’s News 24 Streamlines Graphics Capabilities With Chyron Channel Box² and LEX³•¹

12 06 2012

New Deployment at Leading 24-Hour News Channel Marks Chyron’s First Installation in Albania

LONDON — Chyron today announced that News 24, Albania’s premier 24-hour news channel, has upgraded its on-air graphics capabilities with the company’s Channel Box² channel branding and LEX³•¹ graphics systems. The Chyron solutions will be a key new component in News 24’s migration to HD broadcasting slated for later this year.

“We have achieved fantastic results with Channel Box² and LEX³•¹. With a single computer, we can now perform the job that three separate systems and three different software licenses were doing before — and with absolute top-quality results,” said Arianit Filopati, director of production, News 24. “The Chyron systems have accelerated uploading and delivery of news to air, and since our journalists are spending much less time on graphics presentations, they can focus on their real work of gathering and delivering the news. With Chyron, our news broadcasts now have the most professional look of any in Albania.”

News 24 is Albania’s first 24-hour news channel and currently commands the largest market share for news broadcasting. Chyron’s Channel Box² and LEX³•¹ replace previous graphics systems that had been in place since 2002. These systems required three separate PCs for generating crawls, news subtitles in Albanian and English, and main titles for the live broadcast. Many graphics creation and data input tasks had been manual and time-consuming, requiring up to five journalists to cut and paste each set of data into the user interface.

By upgrading its equipment to the Chyron systems, News 24 was able to streamline many graphics and data input tasks. Deployed to facilitate the station’s channel branding, Channel Box²’s automated data handling capabilities and data gateways enable seamless import of news and graphical data — accelerating workflows for delivering news broadcasts to air. From one single Channel Box², the News 24 team is able to generate and playout 13 different graphical components that are broadcast day and night, including text, crawls, video DVE, animated logos, hour and date, and various clips in support of the current news topic.

The LEX³•¹ graphics playout system enables News 24 journalists to enhance each on-air news broadcast with a rich set of graphics and last-minute changes. In fast-paced live coverage, the LEX³•¹ system’s template-based text and graphics enable instant updates from data feeds and databases.

“The Albanian television industry is rapidly advancing and becoming extremely competitive. News 24 is committed to maintaining its market leadership by adopting leading-edge technologies — and one component is the ability to deliver a highly sophisticated on-air presentation that easily outclasses the competition,” said Viktor Tatai, regional sales manager at Chyron. “By adopting Chyron’s Channel Box² and LEX³•¹, News 24 has taken a significant step forward with systems that simplify workflows and accelerate delivery of highly complex and professional graphics components that complement news content.”

Chyron and Cell Journalist Team Up to Integrate User-Generated Content Into News Graphics

30 05 2012

New Partnership Uses Open Standard MOS Redirection to Move Assets Across Platforms

Melville, NY – Chyron today announced that it has integrated the company’s CAMIO graphics asset management server with the Web-based Cell Journalist application to streamline the incorporation of user-generated video content into a news rundown. This integration enables producers to locate Cell Journalist content through the Associated Press ENPS interface and quickly move it to the CAMIO server for playout to air. With this capability, broadcasters can maximize the value of user-generated content — such as media captured and uploaded by a field journalist or just a person off the street — which proves particularly useful during live breaking news and severe weather coverage.

“In the past, an integration of this sophistication would have been costly both in terms of development time and money,” said Jim Martinolich, vice president of integration technology at Chyron. “Now, however, we have been able to leverage MOS Redirection, part of the open-standard MOS communications protocol, to simplify the sharing of content among systems. In doing so, we make it easy for producers to access unique or timely user-generated content through the same ENPS interface they use to create their news stories. This is a simple solution with a huge benefit — namely, a more relevant and visually rich news product, without added workflow complexity.”

Cell Journalist is a comprehensive platform that allows users of mobile devices to upload, view, and share images and videos with a news station in seconds. Through the integration of Chyron’s CAMIO and Cell Journalist, a producer working in ENPS can locate uploaded stills and video hosted by Cell Journalist and then simply drag and drop them into a Chyron template and into the newsroom rundown.

“Chyron and AP ENPS share our vision of breaking down silos and making content available to the entire newsroom. This integration will help stations win the big story by providing real time access to content submitted by audience and staff alike,” said Parker Polidor, president of Cell Journalist.

“This is an excellent example of how MOS and Open Standards can be used to build a completely transparent bridge from a cloud media source to a local production channel,” said Mike Palmer, director of design and integration strategy for AP ENPS. “Chyron and Cell Journalist have remarkably simplified the journalist’s job by hiding the complex operations normally required to manually download, transcode, and copy media from one source to another. This ultimately makes the journalist significantly faster, more competitive, and more efficient.”
